About HSC Hermes

Welcome to the Helderse Sports Club (HSC) Hermes, the hockey club for young and old.

With a proven track record after its founding on April 29, 1941, HSC Hermes has now grown into a medium-sized, friendly sports club with approximately 175 members. Hermes can be found at the sports park "De Linie", on the Linieweg between Den Helder and Huisduinen. We have enthusiastic members, fun playing, good hockey on an artificial grass field and a modern canteen for the 'third' half. In short, Hermes is exactly what you are looking for.

Sportsmanship and team spirit are our top priorities. We pay special attention to this for each age category. For example, for the youngest members, from the age of 5, a lot of attention is paid to basic technique during the weekly training sessions on Friday afternoon. This way, the children learn to use a hockey stick in a playful way and they get every opportunity to grow into real champions. In the competitions for the youngest youth, teamwork is paramount and players learn to work under the guidance of a coach. All this to ensure that everyone enjoys the game and learns something from it.

As we get older, the competitive element plays an increasingly important role. While here too, fun in the game remains the most important goal. In this category, a lot of emphasis is placed not only on the development of hockey technique, but also on cultivating team spirit and sporting behavior. This also includes acting as a referee every now and then.

For veterans and veterans, the recreational element and their own interpretation of membership are paramount. New members with little hockey experience are taught game knowledge in a playful manner.

The volunteers within Hermes know how to further give substance to the club spirit by organizing activities. There are party evenings, "clinics" and participation in tournaments in the late season, and indoor hockey is played during the winter months.
